Abstract

The first tripartite disc wheel found in the UK was discovered in Blair Drummond in 1830, although it was mis-identified as a shield for many years. The author argues that while this form of wheel is rare in Northern Europe, there is evidence from elsewhere in Europe that allows him to suggest that the Blair Drummond wheel may be from either the Late Bronze Age or Iron Age.
