Abstract

Robert Chambers challenges the view of historians that argue Mary Queen of Scots was abducted from Fountainbridge in Edinburgh in 1567. Using contemporary sources, place-name evidence and geographical arguments, Chambers suggests that a more likely place for the abduction to have taken place was somewhere along the river Almond.
