SAIR was established by a consortium of heritage organisations including the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland and the Council for British Archaeology in 2000. The purpose of the journal is to publish fully peer-reviewed accounts of new research in Scotland’s archaeological heritage.
SAIR accepts submissions that are more than 10,000 words long. All SAIR projects must come with external funding to cover the cost of making the reports freely available. Please see the submission guidelines for further details.
Information on the peer review process, open access and digital archiving can be found on the journal policies page.
