The cairn had a number of phases although these probably only extended over a short time span. The tradition of extended inhumations within sub-rectangular cairns is a recognised funerary practice in the north of Britain during the first millennium AD. Many of these are considered to be Pictish in date but the results from Loch Borallie indicate a commencement in the Iron Age.Downloads
