Abstract

The paper recounts the events of a Society outing to Incholm in 1848 and highlights James Simpson’s later article on the island that was published in the Proceedings (see PSAS Volume 2 pp.489-528). David Laing then proposes that Thomas Arnold’s paper on the history of the Abbey on Inchcolm should be included in the fifth volume of the Archaeologia Scotica (see AS Volume V, pp 45-70).
