Abstract
On the day, a book containing two Catholic texts from the sixteenth century was exhibited. The article describes the career of Bishop Robert Reid, one of the book’s owners, who was the Abbot of Kinloss from 1526-1558. His academic pursuits, the improvements he made to the Abbey and how he likely came to own the book are discussed, alongside some analysis of the primary sources of information about his life. The history of the Abbey is mentioned throughout the article, including the legend of its founding by David I in 1150 and some information about earlier Abbots.
