John Alexander Smith follows up on the discovery of a Roman patella at Teviotdale that was previously reported in the Proceedings (see Vol I, pp69-70). He describes how the vessel was found and how he came to acquire it, before going into more detail about how he believes it was made. His article includes an analysis of the materials used to make the patella by Dr Stevenson MacAdam, who had previously analysed other bronze artefacts believed to be contemporary with the patella.
