Abstract

David Laing, one of the Society's secretaries, summarises the communications the Society has received regarding the preservation of several sites on Iona in the form of a letter addressed to one of the Society's Vice-Presidents. He explains what archaeological features are present on each site, before discussing whether the Society could get involved to preserve them. Mr Laing also includes suggestions by a Fellow of the Society on how monuments from the churchyard of the Abbey Church could be preserved and presented so that visitors could appreciate them without damaging them further.
