Abstract

Dr. Daniel Wilson exhibited a famous medieval cup, which had mistakenly been attributed to Hebridean origin and dated to the tenth century by Sir Walter Scott. Dr. Wilson on obtaining access to the object was able to ascertain that it was of Irish origin. Further investigation of the names mentioned in the inscription revealed the identity of it's fifteenth century owners, although Dr. Wilson believed the cup to be older than that. Following this is a list of acquisitions made over that summer.
