The Badden Cist Slab

Abstract

A carved stone was uncovered on a farm in Argyll and Bute and examined by the authors of this article who argue for its importance to the study of the Bronze Age in the west of Scotland. The lozenge design on the Badden carved stone is compared to similar stones found locally, as well as with designs from Wessex and Brittany. The second half of the article attempts to place the carved stones and cists found in Argyll and Bute into their European context.
