Abstract

Collated reports on excavations that took place at two sites in between 1951-55. The author suggests that the structures at Braidwood Fort may represent two different periods of construction, most likely preceding the incursion of Roman forces. The excavation at Craig’s Quarry provides an interesting comparison to other, relatively rare, Iron Age house sites in Scotland. One of the most significant finds from this excavation is the bronze La Tène brooch, the first of its kind to be discovered in Scotland. The article includes Appendices detailing the finds from Craig’s Quarry.
