Abstract

The author uses the ledger of a Scottish merchant, Andrew Halyburton, to discuss the imports and exports from Scotland in the sixteenth century. He notes that in addition to trading goods between Scotland and Europe, Halyburton also performed some of the functions of an international banker.

Meeting notes for 13 February, 1860 are appended. The provenance of several donations are included in the meeting notes.
