Abstract

This article addresses the reasons that the church at Mid Calder was left unfinished in the sixteenth century. The author quotes extensively from a primary source that requires Sir James Sandilands or his heir to complete the church, which neither of them did as the Reformation halted the construction. The article then goes on to describe the original plans for the church.
